Final painting

For the final painting I went through many different ideas and sketches. It took me a while to come to the decision that instead of having the both of them in one painting that i would focus on just one character, as I had a much better idea of what direction I wanted to take her painting in. I struggled with finding a background and a colour pallet that would work well for them both and I couldn't figure out how I wanted to have them posed.

I decided to go for something very focused on nature for the Koi fish, pulling in the water inspiration from her kimono pattern by having her standing in a river surrounded by running water.
