Final characters

After scrapping Ringo as I didn't have a second outfit for him, I started working on HotPants, who I did have another outfit for.

Starting off with a base I sketched so all of the versions of her would have the same body type I based this from the other female characters, only this time I made her face slightly more masculine to show that she had been pretending to be a man until her identity was revealed.

I sketched her in my usual sketching brush, removing some details as I wanted to focus on the basic shapes. Next, for the lineart in a 3.0 mapping pen I added back in the details and the accessories, editing pieces to make them more accurate. Once I completed the lineart for the front of her I duplicated the layer, flipped and erased the interior details, drawing back in the back details.

The flat colours aren't particularly interesting, I simply colour dropped from official references. Next I added the shading, copying where the shadows fall on the manga and on the sketches she is based from. Using the paint brush to create the black shading and the highlights and laying the textured overlay on top in order to properly replicate the style.

I did the exact same system for her alternate outfit.

Again, I used the same system for creating Mountain Tim and his alternate outfit, this time using the original outfit as the base for the alternate, saving me time and ensuring they looked coherent. The only difference is that this time I had used cross hatching instead of a brush to create the black areas.

All together I think that both of these came out really well, they look accurate to the material I am trying to replicate and I am very proud of them. I believe the colours might need to be a little more dull, however I am unsure if that is just my screen being off balanced.
